THE KINGDOM OF GOD: A NO-EXCUSE ZONE!

“Excuse me!”
Those two words might fit as a title to the Lord’s teaching about the kingdom of God in . Jesus used the illustration of a Great Supper. There were many who were invited to the supper–to come and enjoy the blessings of the kingdom of God. Here is what says about those people.
“But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.'”
As Jesus continued His teaching, others made similar excuses. All of them had other things that were put ahead of coming to the feast prepared by the Master.
Are folks today still doing the same thing? You know they are. The Lord invites, but men still make excuses. Here are a few examples:
“I am too busy to obey God. I am sure the Lord understands that I don’t have time.”
“I don’t know enough yet. I want to know as much as I can before I obey God.”
“I would serve God if it wasn’t for all those hypocrites in the church.”
“I am waiting for others. When they obey God, then I will too.”
“I am afraid I would fail. When I get stronger in my faith, I might obey God then.”
“I would obey God, but then He would want me to be at all the services.”
“I will certainly obey God someday. But I don’t want to do it right now.”
Can you see how all of these are just excuses? None of them are really valid. Just one more thing: Are you making excuses for not being all that God wants you to be? I am talking not just about obeying the gospel. I mean being more diligent in your service to God. Are you making excuses? I hope not, but if so…

THE FINAL WORD

In the teaching on the kingdom of God in , Jesus concluded that section by saying:
“None of those men who were invited will taste my supper.”
Those who make excuses will never enjoy the blessings of the kingdom.
The kingdom of God is truly a “NO-EXCUSE ZONE.”
Blessings to you my dear friends,
