You might think the title a bit odd. You might even think I have made a spelling error. It is possible that you might think I have somehow lost my mind.
But, whatever you think, the title is a valid plea to every disciple of Jesus. You could even make this into a prayer. “Lord, please don’t let the stealers win.” If the stealers win, you lose. If the stealers win in the lives of your family, they lose.
The stealers are those things that would steal our hearts away from God. They are thieves. They threaten to rob us of the hope of heaven and send our souls to hell. The stealers would take our hearts away from what is right.
Here are some quick examples:
Desires and pleasures. The cares of this world can destroy our spirituality (). These things can steal our hearts from the Lord and from His service.
Evil companionships. The company we keep can steal our hearts and turn our feet from the path of righteousness and godly living ().
Pornography, alcohol and gambling. These things can not only steal your heart from God, they are addictive and personally destructive ().
False teachers. They would steal you away from truth and lead you into a world of error (). They promise much, but will bring you into bondage.
You can think of more things to add to this list.
THE FINAL WORD
Maybe you thought my title had something to do with football. I did not really intend it to be so much about that. But, if you choose, you can make it about football.
Some folks plan to stay home from worship this coming Sunday night. It is Super Bowl Sunday. A football game will steal their hearts away from worship. There may be a few folks who have already let a whole season of football steal their hearts from Sunday evening worship.
Think about it.
“Lord, please don’t let the stealers win!”
Blessings to you, my dear friends,
