HICCUPS

I have been preaching for 46 years. In all that time I have never sneezed while preaching. I have never had the hiccups. I have had a couple of coughing spells, but never a sneeze or hiccup.
Lou Dobbs, host of Business Tonight on Fox Business channel has not been so fortunate. Last week he had a serious case of hiccups on the air. He couldn’t stop. At each commercial break his colleagues and producer were giving him all sorts of advice about how to end the dratted episode. Here is what they told him to do.
“Hold your breath.” He did.
“Take deep breaths.” He did.
“Put sugar on your tongue.” He did.
“Put a a spoonful of peanut butter on your tongue and
hold it there.” He did.
“Drink water. Lots of water.” He did.
Finally, the hiccups stopped. Dobbs remarked, “Something appeared to work, but I don’t know which one. I tried so many.”
Or, maybe they just went away on their own, Lou. Hiccups do that, you know. They last for a few minutes or maybe a little longer. But they go away. On their own.
Anyway, the Lou Dobbs hiccup episode was funny. I had the program recorded, and played it over five or six times. It was humorous to hear Lou Dobbs talk about the experience.

THE FINAL WORD

Now for something not so funny.
When it comes to how to be saved, people will give you all sorts of advice. Some will tell you there is nothing for you to do. Others will say “just accept Jesus in your heart.” Someone might point you to the pope and tell you to listen to him. A preacher might tell you to go to an altar and pray. Another might say you have to speak in tongues. The purported remedies for sin are without number.
You can’t afford to be wrong on this. You can be wrong on hiccups, but not this.
And, sin won’t just go away on its own, like hiccups might.
Isn’t it time to listen to Jesus on salvation? Actually, it’s way past time. If you are looking for salvation, look into what these verses say. They are all from Jesus.
; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; .
There are certainly more verses than these. But these are a good place to start. If I can help you learn more about salvation, send me an email at md1944@aol.com.
You can’t afford a hiccup when it comes to your salvation.
Blessings to you my dear friends,
–Max
