GOD CALLS MEN TO BE LEADERS

When we look into God’s book we see several men (and women) who were called by God to fill special roles in His service. It is significant that God calls individuals to be leaders–not committees. Committees rarely lead. Individuals lead.
Someone said, “God so loved the world that He didn’t send a committee.”
While group projects and committees may have their place, leadership by individuals is critical in accomplishing tasks. One wise sage said, “The best way to kill a good idea is to put a committee in charge of it.”
When God wanted to build a great nation, He called an individual–Abraham ().
When God wanted to deliver Israel, He called Moses–an individual ().
When God wanted to take Canaan, He called an individual–Joshua ().
When God wanted to save Gentiles, He called Paul–an individual ().
In none of those cases did God call for a committee. While leaders must cooperate and work effectively with others in groups, it still stands that in these cases, God called individuals to lead. Whether in the church, home, factory or community, God calls men to be leaders.
THE FINAL WORD
Does God still call men to be leaders today?
If we are looking for a supernatural verbal call (as in the above cases), we are making a mistake. Yet God still calls men today to be deacons, shepherds, and teachers, as well as other leadership roles. He calls them in the same way He calls men to be Christians–by His word.
Just as the men in were made shepherds by the Holy Spirit, so the Holy Spirit makes shepherds today. God calls men to lead through means of the word given by the Holy Spirit.

God calls “faithful” and “able” men to be trained to teach others.
